About

Meet Iola Burnsed

A griever just like you — with the tools to help you find your way through.

My story

Resilience and transformation

My name is Iola Burnsed, and I am honored to walk alongside you on your journey to healing. As a faith-based Grief Recovery Specialist with over 20 years of experience, I provide compassionate support to those navigating life's most difficult challenges.

I have endured many types of loss — parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, a miscarriage, and even the devastating loss of my own son when he was only 18 years old. I have known the crushing weight of divorce, emotional abuse, spiritual abuse, broken relationships, lost friendships, and the ongoing pain of a prodigal child.

I have also lost all my worldly possessions to a house fire, was forced to quit a job I loved, and have gone through seven major surgeries. There have been many unmet hopes, dreams and expectations over the years, as well as the loss of concepts like security, trust, respect and hope.

Portrait of Iola Burnsed

The turning point

The weight of my grief was overwhelming at times. Even with a strong faith, counseling, and the support of loved ones, I searched for deeper healing.

It was through the Grief Recovery Method that I found the tools to process the pain of these losses. I believe God led me to the GRM for the transformation needed in my life. Today, I have the God-given joy and peace that surpasses all understanding — and this is what I want for you.

Inspired by this life-changing experience, I became a Grief Recovery Method Specialist. I now blend my personal journey and professional expertise to help others find hope and healing.

What to expect from me

How I work

Faith-based, never forced

My faith is the reason I do this work and it shapes how I show up — with grace, patience and no judgment. You are welcome here wherever you are in your own beliefs.

One-on-one, never a lecture

Every session is private and confidential. This is not a support group and it is not a curriculum I read at you — it is a conversation between two people who understand loss.

Tools, not just talk

Sympathy alone does not heal a broken heart. You leave with a concrete set of grief recovery tools you can use for the rest of your life, on every loss that follows.

A defined beginning and end

Seven sessions, one hour a week. You will always know where you are in the process and what comes next. No open-ended commitment.

Available between sessions

The work happens in the days between our meetings, too. Clients consistently say that knowing I was reachable made the hard weeks possible.

In person or by Zoom

Meet me at my office in Palm Coast, Florida, or join from your own living room anywhere in the country. The method works either way.

An important note

Grief coaching is not therapy

The Grief Recovery Method is educational, evidence-based support for grievers. It is not psychotherapy, counseling or medical treatment, and it is not a substitute for care from a licensed mental health professional. Many of my clients see a therapist and work with me at the same time — the two complement each other well.

If you are in crisis or having thoughts of suicide, please call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours a day. The Grief Recovery Method is not appropriate for someone in the middle of an active crisis, and your safety comes first.
